Entering the LensCulture Portrait Awards.
On the 23rd of February I entered 5 singles into the LensCulture Portrait awards. I submitted 5 single portraits which were a mix of two of my personal projects, Sabr and To Believe In. I wanted to submit as a series but that required 10 portraits and I didn’t think I had another 5 strong portraits at the time. Looking back now I think I should’ve just entered them anyway.
It was an interesting experience creating a profile and submitting my work. It helped me develop summarising skills and cutting down on characters to form a short but effect summary/synopsis.
I actually did pay for a submission review, where a member of the LensCulture industry insiders reviews what you have submitted and offers feedback. The feedback that I received was so helpful, and really opened my eyes to how to enter future competitions. The reviewer also recomended some other artists work to look at as well as some literature to read and lots of different resources that I found useful whilst completing my university project.
Here is my entry.
