Interim Exhibition
For our THD1447 module - Personal Practice Portfolio, we had to create an online exhibition. I used artsteps which is a free online platform where you can create and curate your own online exhibition. This was due to covid and exhibition galleries not being open. Artsteps make your work accessible during a time like this, although it will never beat the feeling of wandering through a physical exhibition and being able to examine what frame the artist used, what peer and to see the materiality of the work. However due to the pandemic, this is the only option that we have really.
My exhibition titles Sabr, explores the way in which my family rely on their faith in different ways, when going through something tough. Sabr, meaning to have perseverance and endurance through hard situations, is an islamic principle and I wanted to document the everyday devotions to god my family complete. Each image on the exhibition has its own story and as you walk around the digital gallery, you will see the work flows together to create one narrative.
The work is meant to portray little nuances of faith that my family do daily, examples of having Sabr and faith in a peaceful, individualised way as no two journeys with faith are the same. The work shows the way three different family members approach their faith in tough times like this where our family has just lost someone so significant.
You can find my artsteps exhibition here.
